Monday Workout

Monday workout, today it's all about the benefits of swimming.

Like all the other cardiovascular exercises swimming has all those benefits plus a few added bonuses.  When you swim there is no ground impact which means there is no added stress on the joints.  This means that swimming can be used as an exercise all through your life.  You can build muscle mass, increase cardiorespiratory fitness as well as make exercising easier for those individuals with joint or muscle issues. It builds endurance, maintains a healthy weight, heart and lungs, tones muscles and builds strength. Swimming also provides a complete body workout, as nearly all of your muscles are used during swimming.

Another great thing about swimming is that you can do it by yourself, in a group, with a friend, take a class the list goes on.  Sharing in an activity can also build friendships.  So get out there and try to swim a few laps a week and see how you like it.
