Relaxation time is here and the benefits keep on going.
Have you ever noticed that when you are stressed out you can't think straight, you can't focus, and you forget things. Then when you walk away and take a break, you all of a sudden remember what you forgot, you come up with a new idea and your focus is better. Well some studies show that relaxation helps clear the mind so that you can organize your thought processes better and your memory improves. This does not mean that you can be a couch potato all day every day, you still need to work. We all wish we were independently wealthy, but that is just not the case. We do have to work hard but we also need that down time to rejuvenate ourselves so that we can be the best that we can be.
Some studies even show that high levels of stress can increase certain proteins in the brain that are linked with memory illnesses like Alzheimer's (Klein, Sarah. 2014). Other studies have also shown that relaxation helps improve the memory of older adults as well as simple attention to tasks (Galvin, Benson, Deckro, Fricchione, Dusek, 2006).
So if your having a tough week, sit back and do a little relaxation. Get away from all the chaos of your world and just breath. You need to step back for a few minutes so that you can step forward to take on each challenge. You are worth the time. You are allowed to take a break. You will accomplish more once you have had a chance to clear your head.
