Friday Reflections

Friday Reflections is back again.

How did you do this week?  Did you eat healthy? Did you get in 30 minutes of exercise each day?  If you did reflect on how you feel, what is your body telling you?  Are you motivated to keep going?  Were you able to avoid the tempting foods that haunt our nursing stations/desk?  Do you feel like you accomplished your goals this week?  Write your answers in your transformation journal so you can physically see what you accomplished this week.

Reflecting back on our experiences helps us to hone our skills and just like nursing, eating healthy is a learned skill, exercising everyday is a learned skill that we have to nurture everyday.  By learning how to eat healthy and finding an exercise/exercise program we enjoy, we are able to hone our bodies into a healthy and happy system that works with us.  Even if you have a medical condition it's possible to get healthy, you have to listen to your body and learn to understand what it is tell you.  This is another skill we all have to learn and fine tune it so that our body can work properly and efficiently.

Reflect on what your body is telling you half an hour after you have eaten.  Are you full of energy or are you tired and wanting to have a nap?  What does this mean?  What is your body telling you?  Reflect on how you feel after a good 30 minute workout.  What do you feel?  Are your arms and legs burning, and exhausted or are they fine?  What is your body telling you about the workout you just did?  Write it down in your transformation journal and reflect on your findings.

After you have thought about what your body is telling you, come up with a plan on how to learn more about what your body is telling you.  Do you need to change what you are eating? Do you need a more intense/less intense workout? Do you need a different kind of  workout? Only you know what your body needs.  Listen to what it is telling you.
